Bum marketing, also called article marketing is a way to promote a website for free. This is done by submitting original articles to article directories. How exactly bum-marketing works and how you can use it to increase the number of your website visitors, will be explained in this article.

Bum-Marketing

Getting targeted visitors to a website is the hardest part of internet marketing. There are numerous ways to generate traffic and each method needs to be used in a certain way. Bum marketing is a great way to get free targeted traffic to any website of your choice. This is done by submitting your own original articles to various article directories. But wait, there are certain things that you need to know about submitting articles:

1.) Find the right keywords first.

It is major important that you know what people are looking for, if there is no market for your topic then you will not make sales! Also make sure that your keywords have low competition, this way you will get more traffic from the search engines later on.

2.) Find the best affiliate programs or products that fit your keywords.

If you want to make money through bum marketing, then there are 3 ways to do this, you can sell your own products or services, you can sell products as an affiliate or you can make money through google adsense ads on your website. If you want you can even combine all 3 ways to make money.

3.) Write your article

You can not use private label rights articles, you need to write your very own original article to get listed in the article directories. You article should be between 400 and 800 words of length with a keyword density of 1.5% up to 3%. Your article needs to have a value to the reader, he or she must learn something from it. If you provide good content, then your article will be downloaded and published on other websites more likely.

4.) Create your “about the author box”

You do not have to write anything about yourself as a person in the “about the author box”. You can create a unique box for each article! Make sure that your author box is related to your article content. You can write things like: “If you want more information on … or read reviews about … click here: …”

5.) Check your article

It is important that you spell check your article so that it gets approved in the directories.

6.) Submit your article

You can use a semi-automated article submitter to submit your article to the article directories. Do not use a full automated submitter, you can get banned from many important websites by doing so! When submitting your articles to various directories make sure to change your title and the first 3 sentences once in a while.

7.) Saturate the market

You will not succeed in bum-marketing unless you submit a number of articles on a regular basis. A good number to start is one article a day, after a while you will be able to write 3 or more articles every day and submit them to 50 or more article directories.

As you can see this is quite a bit of work but the results will be great. Not only will you get visitors from your article signatures but also will you get better search engine rankings because of improving the number of backlinks to your website.

You can also take advantage of free keyword tools and Yahoo Answers in order to find the most top ranking keyword strings that have the most optimal results within the search engines. You want keyword phrases that are about 1,000 to 5,000 when searched using quotes.

This takes research but it’s vital and certainly worth your while. Use the keyword phrase in your title, the article body and within the resource box. A landing page with the same keyword phrase as your title helps your search rankings as well.

By writing articles on tips, how to, and lists that are informative concerning your product will definitely offer you more success in bum marketing for your online business.

Lastly, always keep in mind that in order for your articles to be successful using the bum marketing method you have to have the right keyword density in every written article which is about 1% to 2% as of this writing.

Your articles also need to be informative and engaging for your readers because if they are not of interest to your readers, you will not get click-throughs on your links or ads, and that will not help you to make money online fast.

What Is Bum Marketing?

This method was coined for the sheer simplicity of the concept. Virtually anybody can succeed through this web-based marketing method. In bum marketing, which is also known as article marketing, you simply aim to create articles for keywords that have no or low competition on the Internet. Since competition is low or virtually inexistent, your article will have a high page ranking on most search engines.

If you want to learn more about how you can take advantage of bum marketing, read on and learn.

Find a niche or target market, product, site or subject.

After being convinced that you can succeed in bum marketing, the first step you need to take is to look for a website, a product, a niche market, or a particular subject that you are interested in. Although you can make articles on virtually anything under the sun, it is advisable to look for subjects that interest you so that you won’t find it hard to write an article about it.

Furthermore, you will not feel discouraged even if you find few or no resources about the topic you chose on the net because you already have prior knowledge about it.

Do some keyword research.

The next step, after you have already decided which topic or subject to write about, is to find keywords (that are related to your subject choice) that have low competition on the Net. There are many keywords that are frequently sought but do not have ample resources on the World Wide Web.

The main objective of bum marketing is to take advantage of the scarcity of reference materials or articles such keywords.

Create an article based on low-competition keywords and phrases.

The third crucial step in bum marketing is to write the article itself. Since there are not many resources available on the net about the keywords you have chosen, you need to be resourceful. Visit your local libraries, watch documentaries, use help sites, post questions on forums, or rely on your own knowledge about the topic.

The articles do not have to be long, just ensure that they are comprehensive and well written. As much as possible, do not use jargons, archaic language or words that are not easy to understand. Internet users do not have the time to look for the meaning of words in dictionaries.

Submit articles to top article repositories or directories.

The last step in this so-called article marketing method is to submit the articles you have written and created in popular directories or article repositories. It is best to submit articles to these websites because they are almost always on the top rank of most search engines since they are frequently updated and have tons of quality content.

You can earn money through building links gained from the articles you submitted on major websites or you can get money from sales from your affiliated sites.

Advantages Of Bum Marketing.

The main advantage of bum marketing is its simplicity. Anybody who has internet access can use it. If you are not good at writing articles, you can always find people who are willing to ghost write for you for a low price. All you have to do is some keyword research and you are already on track of earning big.

Another benefit of this marketing method is the building of your credibility. Once people see that you have written several topics about specific subjects, they will view you as an expert on the field. Even if you have not seen a whale shark in your entire life, you will be considered as a whale shark expert if you have numerous articles submitted in popular directories.

People will think that you have done extensive research and have ample knowledge on the subject simply because you have written many informative and easy to understand articles on topics that are not easily available on the net.

What is Bum Marketing?

Sorry to disappoint you but the term Bum Marketer was coined from the phrase “Article Marketing is So Simple any Bum could do it” and not because article marketers sit on their bums all day and write stuff. Therefore bum marketing is in fact a form of article marketing whereby people write lots of articles and submit them to article directories to drive traffic to a sales page, blog or website to sell their products and/or services.

Is Bum Marketing for You?

Bum marketing is not for everyone because it takes a lot of time to write the large number of articles needed for it to work and not everyone has time to spare. Most people running a business just do not have this time to spare so it may not be for them. Some business people hire others to write articles for them instead of writing them themselves.

With a practice it will only take some people a few minutes to write an article of 300 to 400 words. If you can not write then you can either learn to write or choose another method to advertise your products.

As previously mentioned you can hire someone to write articles for you but it too involves time in finding authors that you can work with at a reasonable price. Other marketing methods should be considered so that you can work out the most cost effective method for your business.

Bum marketing has in the past been a effective marketing strategy and is still just as effective today. So if you have the time available to write lots of articles to promote your business then bum marketing is worth a try.

Bum marketing also includes submitting articles to multiple article directories which is also time consuming if done manually. You can also hire someone to submit your articles as well as writing them for you.

Unless you give it a try you will not know if writing and submitting articles will work for your business. I suggest you write a few articles, submit them yourself and assess the results. Doing it yourself first will give you an idea of how much time is involved, how to actually do it so you can instruct others in the future and how successful those few articles were in marketing your business. You might decide you can write the article yourself but are more than willing to pay a submission service to do this tedious work for you.

What is bum marketing? Can you use it to increase website traffic, and can it be an important part of your affiliate marketing strategy? How can you start a bum marketing campaign?

We’ll look at these questions and more. Bum marketing is just a type of article marketing. It is called bum marketing because, the author of the term says, it is a method that even a bum off the street can do. It is article marketing, but with a twist.

What is article marketing? It is simply a method where you write articles based on a topic, using keywords you have researched. You include your resource box to give readers the opportunity to click on your links to go to your website or blog for more information and ultimately to buy your product or affiliate product.

What is the difference between article marketing and bum marketing? The main difference is the focus. In article marketing, the idea is to get the author’s website on the main page of search engines, thus enabling you to increase search engine traffic. In bum marketing, the idea is to get the article on the main page. This is much easier than getting the website to the main page. This is because Google loves rich content, and since article directories provide this content, they rank on the main page. If you place your articles in directories, as bum marketing focuses on, you will use the ranking of the article directories to your advantage.

Tips for using bum marketing in your advertising campaign include:

1. Find a lucrative niche, balancing between popularity and competitiveness.

2. Find a product for this niche. Information products can be found through Clickbank. You may have your own product, but can make money just promoting other’s products.

3. Write at least ten articles based on these keywords and products.

4. Write killer titles for each article. The title should include the keyword or keyword phrase just as you researched it.

5. Create a blog account and blog related to your topics. Include a link to your affiliate product in the blog.

6. Create great resource boxes with your personal information in them. Create more than one. Link to your blog in the resource box.

7. Submit your articles to article directories, varying the resource boxes that all point to the product that relates to your article. Make sure the product and the article content relate.

8. Repeat the above steps with a new product, blog, and articles.

The steps above are just an overview of the topic. Learn as much as you can about each one, searching for all the information you can glean about each in order to use the tip to the fullest possible.

Article writing is not hard. It seems intimidating at first, but as you work through it, things become easier. You don’t have to be a great writer, and don’t even have to have excellent grammar. However, to be seen as a professional, you should strive to write as well and as correctly as you possibly can. You will get better as you repeat these steps.

Bum marketing is simply article marketing taken up a notch, made easier and more to the point. The goal is not to get to the top of the search engine pages with your site. It is simply to have your article on that page. Then, surfers looking for your keyword information will click on your article, and will ultimately be led to your affiliate site to buy your product.

Though you might not make a lot of money with each article, the sheer volume of all the articles your write will bring you a lucrative income. Just a dollar or two on each article, earned daily due to click throughs, can lead to a good income without much effort.

Another source of income using this method is through paid ads shown on your article site. Getting involved in paid for ads will bring a small but consistent additional source of income.

Additionally to sales you might get, you can build a huge mailing list by offering a free report or newsletter that people sign up for. As any marketer knows, a mailing list is a gold mine. So, even if you don’t strive for sales, at least give the opportunity for readers to sign up for your newsletter or free report.

Went to renew a little late and seems it was auctioned off and for sale for about 00.00. I don’t understand all this, but I am sure I should. I start thinking selling domains? Can I do that? Probably, but that is an entire other project that I am not ready for.

Well now I remember that I had used that domain in maybe 15 articles on Ezine. Oh boy! Manual labor to fix that. I fixed it, seems those articles had been going to the site to buy my domain for about 10 days. I spent 15 minutes, resubmitted the articles, and tad da, after they were all corrected, I made 0 over the weekend while I was hanging out with my new boyfriend. I think that is kind of cool.

In the process I also discovered that I had made another error in about 7 more articles. I had put in the wrong domain. I was meaning to tell women how to get their boyfriends to marry them but the link I put in directed them to how to get the ex back. Ughhh. I did that today. I will update later when they are released again.

So what I am really talking about above is one of the 3 forms of article marketing,direct Article Marketing that is. That is where you don’t have your own landing page or squidoo lens or blog. You write the article, link it directly to the sales page which is your affiliate link. You say you can’t put an affiliate link in some articles such as ezine, true yes.

That is where the domain thing comes in. I purchase domain names or registration or whatever it is. I put keyword research into this too, another subject. So many subjects. I can get a .us for .00 for a year. I forward the affiliate links straight to these domains, simple even for me. You can put domain names in your articles in most directories if not almost all.

I do other article marketing other than direct, but these do make money for me. This is so much fun learning too by the way. It’s like going back to college but much more rewarding because what you build is really completely yours. It could be a reputation you build, a financial empire or a few bucks, but it’s yours.
